Leather & Lace

When I saw the current challenge at Digitally Sweet, it had me scratching my head. Then I came across a free kit called Love Me which was just perfect. I've scrapped this lovely photo of my twin niece and nephew during their first (and so far, only) trip to Florida. Everything except the vellum pocket, 'embossed' scroll on the pocket,  ribbon, and text are from the kit although I changed the colour of the paper from green. I'm very pleased with the floral embellishment on top of the paper - it's part of the kit and is white, which I like and was planning to use as is but I didn't realise I had it highlighted when I went to add a shadow to something else and the shadow ended up being applied to it of course. I decided to leave it because I really like the effect which is very reminiscent of paste used through a stencil. I do love it when I discover things by accident!

The Female Line

This page is a variation on another one I did recently. I wasn't entirely happy with the shadow box frame I created so I created another one and have re-coloured it too. I'm showing three generations of the female line with this one and have done the pictures black and white so that they are all the same. Apart from my own shadow box frame, I've used items from Days gone by, Butterfly kisses and Butterfly paradise kits with some re-colouring.

These Boots.........

Morning all! Today's card is for my brother's birthday at the end of the month. Men's cards are never easy so I decided to focus on two of his interests, music and walking - and his favourite place to walk which is here in the Lake District. I created the card in Craft Artist 2 and although it isn't obvious in the photo have layered various bits up. The two guitars are digi stamps that I coloured in ArtRage. The walking equipment I cut out of photos to use as embellishments. The papers came from kits by Pam Lefors, Sherwood Studios and Daisy Trail. I also used a template by FranB.

On The Wings Of Love

This is a very 'busy' page for me so takes me out of my comfort zone somewhat. I've really enjoyed creating it though, it just kind of evolved so I just went with the flow to see where it took me. The original inspiration for the page came from the shadow boxes with the different sized compartments favoured by Tim Holtz and a few other designers. I like the idea of something similar for a scrapbook page so I set about creating one then built the page around it. I've used items from several kits but the bulk of things come from Butterfly Garden by Daisy Trail. I've used photos of my Mother at 3 different stages in her life; when she was a child, as a Mother and as a Grandmother. As one was sepia, one was black & white and 1 was colour, I decided to make them all sepia in Craft Artist.
I think I've enjoyed this little foray outside my comfort zone but will probably scuttle back into it when I make the next page, lol!

Ist House Mouse

I'm quite slow coming to the house mouse phenomenon but I've been having a play with this lovely image. I created decoupage from the image and did the decoupage digitally for the top card and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. The bottom card uses the same image as a part finished painting which gives it a different look. The top one is a birthday card and although I haven't decided what the bottom one will be for yet, I think it would make a rather nice 'Thinking of You' card.

A Special Lady

Today's layout is a memory page featuring my Mother. It's 23 years this year since she passed away and she's a big miss by us all so it's lovely to scrap a photo of her and re-live a few memories. I've used a couple of kits and some of my own elements and papers and re-coloured a couple of things in Craft Artist 2. I rather like the soft effect of these colours with the black and white photo.

Chillin'

Happy International Scrapbooking Day! Seeing as it's iNSD, I thought I'd share another two pager with you today. These will complete the middle week of our 3 week Gran Canarian holiday from 2005 - for now at least! We were in San Augustin for this week and found it to be very different to Puerto de Mogan - still lovely though. I've used 3 kits to put these together, two of them being the new ones I was trying to use the other day when Mr mojo decided to leave me to my own devices! The three are: Clara by Angie Hinkman, Love Life by Karen Glover and Dreams from Stuff to Scrap. I also used two of Trish's templates from Template Dreams. Thankfully, I can honestly say that I really enjoyed creating these. I'm entering one or both of them into these challenges:

Below is the two page spread as they will face each other in the album.

I hope you get to do some scrapping today too - have a good one :-)

It's Magic!

Well, my mojo definitely didn't want to play today! I treated myself to a couple of new kits this morning and set about having a play......but mojo just didn't wanna know! I finally came up with something I'm happy with but not before changing the colours of just about everything......still, tomorrow's another day :-)

I hope your day is going better :-)

San Augustin

Today's page is a companion page to one I blogged last year and the colours are out of my comfort zone really but I'm going along with the colours I used for the page I want it to go with. I've used papers and elements from several different kits and have recoloured all of them I think! I enjoyed making it and it's growing on me, I think we have to challenge ourselves with what doesn't always feel comfortable sometimes.

Home From Home

This page is a facing page for the one I blogged here and completes the first 3rd of an 8x8 album I doing of our very first holiday to Gran Canaria. I'm devoting a third of the album to each of the 3 places we stayed. This one completes Puerto de Mogan - for this album at least, lol!
The backing papers and white embossed strip are my own and have been combined with elements from various kits from Daisy Trail and Miriam's Scraps with various effects done in Craft Artist. Don't forget there are some freebie backing papers on the freebie page of this blog if you haven't already got them.

Festival

Today I'm sharing two facing pages for the Gran Canaria album I'm working on. I'm pretty sure that if you click on the photos to enlarge them you'll be able to read what it was all about so I needn't repeat it here. Suffice to say they are great memories and those goats in the middle picture of the bottom page were impeccably behaved during the parade. These pages took a bit of bringing together and I used papers and elements from a variety of kits and can't remember which ones just now but if you want to know about anything in particular let me know in the comments and I'll hunt it down for you.

Some Enchanted Evening Part Deux!

This is another page using the Heartfelt kit by Angie Hinkman from Daisy Trail and is a companion page to the 'Some Enchanted Evening' one a couple of posts down. Getting ready in our lovely apartment to go out for dinner - we had full cooking facilities that we took advantage of because the produce was so lovely but it's nice to be pampered a bit too isn't it? I used another of the templates from Template Dreams and made a few tweaks in Craft Artist.

...and the livin' is easy.....

I was feeling a little bit irritable but without knowing why when I made this card, and I think I subconsciously created something I'd find soothing. I used one of Trish's templates (from Template Dreams) again as a starting point and Aviary Paradise kit from Daisy Trail. I changed the colour of the  backing paper I used slightly because it wasn't quite blue enough for what I was aiming for. I tweaked a few things in Craft Artist and added one of my own embossed papers to complete the look. I like the unfussy look of the layout of this template and the end result helped to sort my mood so all in all a good result! Lol!

I hope you're having a chilled out day, but if you aren't, I hope my card will help you to feel that way :-)

Some Enchanted Evening

It really was a lovely evening too. We were in Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria and it was out of season but that didn't stop most of the restaurants opening up and some of them even opened up especially if you showed an interest earlier in the day - amazing service! On this occasion, the owner was open but we were still his only customers. We ate the most fabulous food and the restaurateur managed to do everything himself including creating a great atmosphere for us - a lovely memory to scrap. I've created the page using the other Angie Hinkman kit I mentioned which is called Heartfelt and you can get from Daisy Trail, and another template from Template Dreams - Scalloped Layers.
I'm entering my page into these challenges:

This page has a partner which I'll show you soon but in the meantime, I hope you're having a good day. :-)
